PLAYMATE'S PADEL LADDER

A Padel Ladder is a way to rank teams sequentially based on their abilities to win games against higher ranked players, it gives everyone a fair chance to play with different level players and eliminates the subjectiveness of traditional “Padel level” systems

How does the padel ladder worK?

Joining a Ladder Game

Download Playmate, choose a partner and look for a Ladder game slot on the app to join. On every slot you join, your team will play against 2 other local teams.

Ladder Rules

  1. On your 1st match, your team will be unranked on the ladder, in that case you’ll play against a ranked team, if you end up winning that match, you’ll take the rank of the team you defeated, and they drop down by one rank. (i.e. if team A (unranked) wins against team B ranked #11, team A becomes #11 & team B becomes #12)

  2. Starting your 2nd match, your rank will be up for grabs, meaning that if your team plays against a lower ranked team (or an unranked team), your team can lose the current rank to the other team.

  3. If a higher ranked team wins against a lower ranked team, no changes occur.

  4. If an unranked team enters the ladder and loses  their 1st match, the team goes to the bottom of the ladder.

  5. Ladder slots will be available to join on Playmate. (1st come, 1st in)

  6. You can climb up the ladder by challenging higher ranked teams and winning against them.

  7. Every time your team gets 3 consecutive wins (a streak) or 10 non-consecutive wins, you get automatically promoted 1 rank up (This only applies up to rank #6 on the ladder)

  8. Playmate organised ladder slots will usually specify a rank range or a level range to ensure the competitiveness of games. (eg. From ranks #15 to #35)

  9. You can sign up to play in the Ladder with up to 5 different teams (i.e. 5 different partners), every time you sign up with a new team you start from the bottom of the ladder. Your original team’s rank stays as long as it’s undefeated.

  10. Immediate re-matches are not allowed; if 2 teams play against each other, they need to play at least 1 match with other teams 1st before playing against each other again.

  11. Every team needs to play a minimum of 1 match every 3 calendar months to keep their rank on the ladder.

Challenges

A ranked team can challenge a team up to 10 positions above them. Challenges outside that range may be allowed if both teams agree or Playmate approves.

New/unranked teams may also challenge a ranked team to enter the Ladder. Results must be reported to Playmate.

How to challenge

Join and post the challenge in the relevant Playmate Ladder Challenges WhatsApp group:

Level 2.5-3.5 Challenges: https://chat.whatsapp.com/Loz4vnxTMmw2XYScwmexAR?mode=gi_t

Level 3.5+ Challenges: https://chat.whatsapp.com/EWS1zQgaCd7BTM8NXtn6n0?mode=gi_t

Format:

Team #[rank] [Player 1] & [Player 2] challenges #[rank] [Player 3] & [Player 4] 🔥

Once accepted, arrange the time, venue and court privately. The challenger is responsible for coordinating the match unless agreed otherwise.

Playing the challenge

A valid challenge should normally be accepted and played within one month. If a team refuses or repeatedly avoids arranging the match without a reasonable reason, Playmate may award a default win or adjust the rankings.

Injury, travel or other exceptional circumstances can be reviewed by Playmate.

Multiple challenges

A team only needs to manage one active challenge at a time. Additional challengers can join the queue and are handled in the order received.

A challenge is against the team, not a ranking position. If their ranking changes before the match, the challenge still stands but may no longer be for the same position.

Reporting results

The winning team should send the final score to Playmate so the Ladder can be updated.

🏆 Monthly Ladder Champions

At the end of each calendar month, the eligible team ranked #1 becomes the Monthly Ladder Champion.

The current prize is €200 worth of padel gear from Obsidian Padel (https://obsidianpadel.co.uk/). Future prizes may change.

Eligibility

To qualify, the #1 team must:

• Play at least one Ladder match during that calendar month.

• Accept at least one valid Ladder Challenge received on or before the 20th, if challenged.

• Make a reasonable effort to arrange and play any accepted challenge within the normal timeframe.

If no valid challenge is received by the 20th, no additional challenge match is required.

📅 Monthly challenge deadline

Challenges affecting the #1 team’s prize eligibility must be posted on or before the 20th of the month.

The match itself does not need to be completed before month-end. If accepted, it can be played later under the normal challenge timeframe.

⚔️ Challenging #1

Standard Ladder rules still apply: you must be within 10 positions of #1 when the challenge is posted.

If #1 already has an active challenge, another eligible team can join the queue. The #1 team does not need to play several challenges at once.

If the challenged team loses #1 before your match, your challenge remains valid, but it may no longer be for the top spot.

New #1 teams

If another team reaches #1 during the month, the same rules apply. If they become #1 after the 20th, they do not need to accept a new challenge for that month’s prize eligibility, but they must still have played at least one Ladder match that month.

When is the winner decided?

The Monthly Champion is based on the official Ladder ranking at the end of the final day of the month. Later results do not change the previous month’s winner.

Fair Play

The #1 position must remain defendable. Refusing a valid challenge or repeatedly avoiding a match without a reasonable reason may lead to loss of prize eligibility, a default loss or a ranking adjustment.

Playmate may review exceptional circumstances, resolve disputes and adjust rankings or deadlines where needed to keep the Ladder fair.

Rules and prizes may be updated as the Ladder develops.
